How to pick

Start with how you want to budget. Planning every dollar points to YNAB or EveryDollar. Watching every account points to Monarch or Copilot. Envelopes point to Goodbudget.

Free or paid

EveryDollar, Goodbudget, Honeydue, Rocket Money and Empower all have free plans. Free usually means typing transactions yourself or fewer budgets.

If you budget as a couple

Check what your partner can see. In Monarch both see every account; in Honeydue you choose. Oaktally keeps your own spending private and shares only the plan. Basic is $5.99 a month or $59.99 a year; Premium is $12.99 a month or $129.99 a year. Both cover two adults.

What Oaktally does not do yet

Oaktally does not connect to your bank. You add spending by voice, with a receipt photo or with a tap, which takes a few seconds and keeps you looking at every purchase.

How we compared

Oaktally publishes this page, so we are not neutral. Prices and features checked on each company's own site on October 29, 2026. We did not test the other apps hands-on.
